Queen’s support students who wish to pursue improvement in their sport at all levels. Our Athlete Pathway empowers committed and talented people with facilities, coaching, mentoring and services that nurtures a sustained performance outlook.

Applications for 2025 entry to our six Sporting Academies are now OPEN.

In addition to our Elite Athlete Programme, Queen’s Sport offers Athletic Scholarships through our Bursary and Sports Academy Programmes.

Our Sports Bursary programme is open to athletes from all competitive backgrounds while we operate five dedicated programmes for athletes competing in Hockey, Gaelic Games, Rowing, Rugby, and Soccer.

We are an ASAS accredited institution and support our athletes with personalised performance services. Athletes attend Queen’s University to achieve a world class education and we mould whatever assistance they need around their pursuit of excellence in both sport and academia.


Scholarship Programmes

Queens University provides a working environment where talented student athletes have the opportunity and resources to become exceptional. Our level 2 and 3 Athlete pathways have been designed to challenge athletes to raise their ambition and to maximise their sporting and academic potential. The Elite Athlete Programme is the flagship scholarship programme for international level athletes and is the highest sporting award offered with up to £5000 in financial support. Other benefits include academic and sports mentoring, physiotherapy, strength and conditioning coaching, media support, bespoke sports clothing, academic flexibility support and facilities access. Our Sports Bursary and Academy Scholarship Awardees also avail of these benefits while at Queens. While our Sports Bursary Athletes compete largely in individual sports our 5 Academies consist of Rugby, GAA, Hockey, Rowing and Soccer
